Welcome to THE WORLD RADIO NETWORK and WORLD FRIENDSHIP NET

About Us

Our Beginnings

These nets started more than 5 years ago and we are growing strong and continue to grow each and every day.

We have a great administration team that keeps everything running smoothly.

Without you we would never be able to put these nets on.

This website is for  THE WORLD RADIO NETWORK & WORLD FRIENDSHIP NET.

WH6DWF - TODD - CHIEF ADMIN FOR THE WESTERN REFLECTOR.,

 KD8TBC - LEE - NET MGR.

KC8CMQ - JOHN - ASST. NET MGR.

 W2JLD - JOHN - SPECIAL EVENTS COORDINATOR.

Our Future

As we get closer to 2019 and celebrate 6 years on the air. We want to provide a fellowship for ham radio operators, whether you are newly licensed or you are a veteran or you have been off the air for some time.

Our nets are informational and educational and in the spirit of ham radio we want to invoke the high standards that we all should live by and treat each other with respect and dignity.

While we all know this is just a hobby ,we try to have fun and encourage a brotherhood.    And most of all HAVE FUN!!

Site Content

The World Radio Network and World Friendship Net Mission Statement.

The purpose of these Nets is to promote Friendships around the world through daily communication using Amateur Radio.   To foster the ham radio arts and most of all have fun while doing it

We want to thank Kent Johnson/W7AOR, of the Nevada Amateur Radio Repeaters Incorporated(NARRI), for the use of their systems for these nets.

The World Radio Network and World Friendship Nets are hosted by NARRI on the World Conference Server on Echolink.

NARRI provides and maintains the various repeaters that run the WRN/WFN System.
This starts with the Western Reflector which is one of many reflectors on the Echolink system. NARRI Western Reflector Channels 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are  channels that integrated with Echo link Conference Servers; this means  those IRLP Reflector channels are digitally linked to a unique Echo Link Conference  thus allowing nodes on Echo Conferences to talk to nodes on specific IRLP reflector channels.
The Western Reflector has 10 channels (as do all the various reflectors).
The WRN/WFN systems are hosted on channel 1.
The NARRI web site (narri.org) has a list of the various repeaters (7 in Vegas)
The NARRI site also has a list of the channel assignments on the reflector.
Channel 0 is the Hi-Gate conference.
The Las Vegas repeaters are on channel 0 most of the time. (447.000on Blue Diamond is primary)
They switch to channel 1 twice a day for the WRN/WFN nets. This includes the UHF repeater in Pahrump. (449.750)
There is a VHF repeater in Pharump that stays on channel 1 full time. (146.910)

There is considerable cost to provide all these activities. Consider donating to NARRI. See the NARRI website.

A Message From The Manager:
Greetings from Michigan.
Most of us have opinions that we feel passionately about when it comes to politics or religion.
There are many forums where those topics are appropriate and even encouraged.
However, the World Radio Network and the World Friendship Net are not included  in those forums.
It is our desire to keep the *WORLD* Conference a fun place for ham radio operators along with family and friends who may be listening.
Ham radio should be a place where we can avoid controversy and drama
and it is important that we all work together to make sure the *WORLD* Conference is free of political and religious confrontation.
While I respect the right of everyone to have their own views on these subjects,
as Net Manager I must insist that those views be kept off the air the *WORLD* Conference.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. 73 for now.

Lee DeRosa Net Manager/ *WORLD* Echolink Conference/IRLP 9251.

The Real Story - Ham Radio Q&A

The Baofeng UV-5R Radio, just about every ham active on VHF/UHF has one.  With a purchase price of around $30, you get a lot for your money. But  on August 1, 2018 the FCC isued a Citation and Order for the 'Illegal  Marketing of Unauthorized Radio Frequency Devices" against Amcrest  Industries, the company that imports Baofeng radios in to the US. So  what does that mean? Are these radio now illegal to use? Are they  contraband? . .
